Rob Shaw

'I am a self-taught artist, working full time in the Northeast of England since 2006 when I left my profession as an Interior Architect. I have supported myself solely through painting for the last 16 years. I began painting in 1993 when my parents relocated to just north of Whitby and had my first solo show in 1996 at Castleton Studio Gallery. Over the years I have developed my own unique style and constantly try to push my work to breaking point.

I have shown and sold at the RA summer shows in 2012/13. I have also shown and sold large cityscapes in London / New York and Singapore. I am currently working on developing a new style of image. My work is predominantly oil based on heavy duty boards. I am an image chaser, pushing the materials and painting to breaking point before the finished art can be realised.

My work is layered, paintings taking up to 5 years of re working and people can read them in a variety of ways. Within this site you can find examples of my style and artistic methods within my current and past collections.'
