Vicky Prince

Vicky Prince has been an Artist and Educator for over 20 years, showcasing her work in several exhibitions. She dabbles with many genres, but always comes back to landscapes. Being a Derbyshire girl, she has been surrounded by the crags, moors and the vast inspirational landscapes of The Peak District. Combining this with yearly family holidays to North Devon, her work ranges from Impressionistic to abstract and captures land, sea and skies in various seasons. Colours, shapes, and loose mark making are key elements in all her pieces. Acrylic is used for its immediacy with other mixed media added for gestural details.

'I love to play with the colour, shape and abstraction in a painting; adding loose gestural mark making to bring a piece to life. I dissect the image, breaking it down into abstract shapes, adding expressive marks and exaggerating the colours using acrylic, inks, pencils and pastels. Although often abstract in style, I'm keen to ensure my paintings maintain an element of realism so that the viewer can recognise the location or at least elements of it. Within my interpretations I aim to bring life, colour and memories of a particular place or time; a piece that evokes a connection.'
