Steve Tomlinson
'I Live in Yorkshire, but gained my Fine Art degree at Canterbury. My early creative career involved working in exhibitions at the British Museum, then as a model maker, followed by 2d and 3d heritage interpretation.
From 2003 until recently I worked as a public artist. Commissions involved 3d and 2d projects for a variety of indoor and outdoor public areas in England and Wales. I also occasionally lectured over the years on a range of art and design subjects in colleges and universities throughout Yorkshire and the North East.
Each still life painting (acrylic on calico) is an attempt to create an experience of a quiet, contemplative nature, through form, colour and composition – utilising modern objects to attain a simple grace and dignity akin to the qualities we often find in ancient frescoes, sculpture, or earthenware - as expressions of still and timeless moments of concentration.'
