Sheena Spacey

'I am inspired by nature and the patterns of foliage the birds and beasties found in naive and fraktur folk art stories of kindly souls, the simplicity of folk tales and all things home. Working with a variety of processes and media, my work includes hand built ceramics and original artwork.

Finding joy in the simple beauty of nature and using patterns from folk art and collected foliage, old tales and scripts with scattered words, my three dimensional work with clay tells stories with nature, making simple vessels, bowls and figures, and primitive folk style houses. Often coloured with oxides, slips and glazes, sometimes smoke fired and always unique.

My artwork involves creations on canvas and wood, and occasional mixed media, creating imaginary narrative scenes of colour and gentle folk, celebrating nature and a simple life.'
