'I’m Printmaker based in the Yorkshire Wolds. I specialise in Limited Edition Linocut prints inspired by local wildlife and scenery. I grew up in Bishopthorpe on the outskirts of York and was always fascinated by the birds and animals I saw in the local area while walking in the Yorkshire countryside. I started drawing and sketching animals from a young age and, after school, went to York college to study Art, graduating with a Higher National Diploma in Art and Design. I then went on to study at De Montfort University Lincoln where I graduated in 1996 with a BA( hons) degree in Graphic Design and Illustration. Part of my degree involved exploring printmaking techniques such as screen printing, collagraph printmaking and linocut work, which I loved.

After graduating from university I began working as a greetings card designer for a greetings card publisher in 1997 designing cards for high street stores, a career path I followed for 15 years but always held the fascination for printmaking which I so much enjoyed at University.

I began experimenting with linocut printmaking in 2014 and fell in love with the medium and technique and have worked as a linocut printmaker ever since. I find the process very therapeutic, from sketching my design on paper then transferring the design to traditional lino and carefully carving the design into the lino sheet and printing each design in my relief printing press.

I use environmentally friendly safe wash oil based inks which do not require strong detergents during clean up but have good light fast qualities. My linocuts are printed onto quality 50% cotton printmaking paper which is acid free to ensure longevity of my prints. My linocut prints are inspired by my love of British wildlife and scenes from the Yorkshire Wolds and wider area of Yorkshire, often combining wildlife subjects with local scenery.'
