Elizabeth Barton’s ceramics are made in a stoneware clay and fired to 1245 degrees in an electric kiln. Elizabeth usually hand-builds using coils of clay or soft slabs, sometimes using press moulds. She also makes small wheel-thrown pieces.
Her interest lies in surface texture, decoration and use of colour, mainly achieved with underglazes and coloured slips. As the pieces are vitrified, this makes them suitable for food use. They are also dishwasher and microwave safe.
